Visual OTTHYMO v2.0 has a comprehensive Help System and supporting documentation

that will assist both the novice and advanced users. One of the main goals in designing

this Help System was to empower the user with the tools and information so that almost

every conceivable question could be answered in a timely manner, without having to call

for technical support.

This Procedural Manual outlines the information, fees and other requirements needed when

seeking development approvals from the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA).

TRCA is empowered by the
Conservation Authorities Act to regulate development, interference

with wetlands and alterations to shorelines and watercourses, and to provide technical

expertise on flood and erosion control, stormwater management, and the protection of natural

features and functions within its watersheds. TRCA reviews applications made under Ontario

Regulation 166/06; the
Planning Act; the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act; the Fisheries Act; the Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act; the Oak Ridges Moraine

Conservation Act; the Greenbelt Act; and other applicable legislation.

Users of the
Stormwater Management Practices Planning and Design Manual (1994) indicated

that design examples would be useful to show the level of detail required in stormwater design

submissions and supporting documents for applications to approval agencies. The examples

provided in this Appendix are typical of submissions made in the 1990s in various Ontario

municipalities. The following points should be noted when reviewing the design examples:

Note: Examples showcase real world projects that were developed in the 1990s and are based on the 1994 Manual. The 2003

Manual has updated many concepts. Therefore, designers must refer to the 2003 Manual to ensure that future projects are

designed in accordance with current standards.

This is a concise manual that documents critical elements of a development version of
the QUALHYMO model. It documents features that differ from earlier versions of the
model, as well as some of the basic details of model input and operation. Users making
reference to this document should verify that it corresponds with the model version they
are using; after November 2007 users should refer to http://qualhymo.watertoolset.com
for an updated manual (and corresponding model) if available.
